Grade 7 - 8

At LHCS our qualified and attentive teachers facilitate learning among the Grade 7 and 8 students through skill building, inquiry and creativity in the academic disciplines as well as the arts. Students are given greater responsibility for their own learning in addition to opportunities to build leadership skills as they develop as responsive disciples of Jesus.

Curriculum

The curriculum expectations align with or exceed those of the Ontario Ministry of Education. At the same time, a distinct Christian perspective is woven through the learning in all subjects, tying it to the larger Story of God and his people.

Instruction

Teachers use a variety of time-tested and innovative ways of inviting students into the learning process. Whole class, small group and individual activities and projects are designed to meet the developmental needs of learners.

Spiritual Development

Students are guided and mentored in thier faith. They are given opportunities to lead devotions in their homerooms and present Bible learning to their peers. In addition to monthly chapels, students have gatherings three times per year to explore a faith topic in greater depth.

Leadership Development

Students engage in leadership opportunities: they lead their peers and younger students in ways that match their passions and interests. Students learn that leadership takes the form of service to the community, when done for Jesus.
