LHCS Teacher wins inaugural Rozema Award for Teaching Excellence!

Michael VanPelt, John Rozema, Lisa Eelkema, Dr. Beth Green

Yesterday at an event at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington LHCS’s own Lisa Eelkema won the Rozema Award for Teaching Excellence in the elementary school category. The Rozema Awards recognize teachers in Christian schools in the province of Ontario who exhibit purpose, rigour and service in their teaching.

The award was a partnership between Cardus and the Christian School Foundation.  In May we found out that Mrs. Eelkema had made the short list for the award and were excited to find out yesterday that she had won. Along with the recognition for her work Mrs. Eelkema has been awarded $5000 to use towards her continued professional development. This award reflects the strength of all the teaching staff here at LHCS. Congratulations!
