Expanding opportunities in learning and faith through MAP testing!

The first two weeks have flown by already; hopefully the transition to the regular routines of school has gone well for your family.

As mentioned last week, our school will be participating in MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing this year. The testing will start next week for students in grades 3-8.

The MAP tests are different in a number of ways from the CTBS tests that we have done in the past. Since the MAP test is done entirely on the computer, the test will adapt the level of questions to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student will have the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. Another advantage of MAP tests is that we can administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s growth.

Welcome back to another year at LHCS! We have been blessed this year again with strong enrollment, and we want to extend a special welcome to our 28 new families and 64 new students! Please join with our staff as we enfold and welcome these new students and families to our school. We are blessed to have 330 students as part of our school this year!

Celebrating Learning

We are a community of Christ here at Laurentian Hills Christian School. In an excellent effort to foster that community, we expanded our biennial science fair to include our entire school, from JK to Grade 8. In preparation for our Celebration of Learning, all our students were very busy preparing a diverse assortment of projects, art, penmanship, and stories, among other things.
